Hygge and Me – A foundational tool for a happy life

So many of us are overwhelmed in day-to-day life. It can be hard to step back and take some time for yourself. I’m sure most of you have heard statements like this before. I discovered Hygge (hue-guh) and have used it as a foundational tool in my life to propel my happiness to the next level. In short, hygge is a Danish term used to describe a cozy lifestyle. The wonderful thing about hygge isanyone can adopt it and anyone can utilize it. In fact, you can start right now. If that cup of coffee you’re enjoying right now gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside… guess what?! That is hygge. Opening the vast doors of this lifestyle is easy. Choosing it every single day might be a harder endeavor at first. Eventually, hygge should surround you and you’ll realize you have been making a conscious effort to promote your own happiness. It will be an amazing feeling once it is achieved. I believe I can demonstrate how hygge has influenced my life and I hope to inspire others the same way as I begin this new journey.

  1. My daughter spent time in Denmark a decade ago and Hygge was one of the great things she brought back from that trip. I see it popping up stateside a lot lately, pronounced differently depending on whether it’s Danish or Swedish or other, but all connote the same comfort. It’s a lovely emotional warmth. Thanks for sharing this!

  2. I found you on First Friday and I think your work is beautiful. I would work on adding some spacing between sentences as well as between some words that aren’t supposed to be joined as one. I look forward to our subsequent work. I hope to see you over at my blog sometimes. I can always use feedback to improve my work, so feel free to leave your thoughts in the post comments on my blog.
