The simple step to acknowledge your worth will make a big difference. When I decided to respect myself I began caring less and less of what others thought of me. It allowed me to be and act myself. That is why self respect is something we could all benefit from.
“Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.” – Clint Eastwood
The power to embrace yourself is real. However, believing it is true can be a little more difficult. I overcame that by “regrouping” my life. I really focus on the friends that build me up. It’s hard to respect yourself when you’re around people who don’t truly respect you either. Let those people go. I’m still in the process of letting some of those people go and it’s difficult. Now my energy goes into more meaningful relationships with people who truly care about me. I respect them and they respect me as well. Those friendships are a source of power because they are a wonderful support system. Cherish those two things and you’ll be a much happier person.
